How browser-based processing works here

Your PDF opens locally in your browser, and page numbers are drawn directly onto each page using your device's own processing. The numbered file is generated on your device — no file content is sent anywhere.

  • No file upload endpoint exists on this page
  • No database or server-side file storage
  • Output is generated locally as a browser Blob file

Supported files: Standard, non-encrypted PDF files. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs aren't currently supported.

Honest limitations

  • Only a standard Helvetica font is used for the page number text — it won't match custom fonts already used in your document, and Roman numerals aren't available as a format.
  • Existing headers or footers already in the PDF aren't edited — page numbers are added as a new overlay on top of the page.
  • Bookmarks/outlines, clickable links, and non-form annotations haven't been separately verified to survive numbering. Page count, page order, dimensions, rotation, document metadata, and existing form fields have been confirmed to carry over unchanged.

No artificial daily task limits. Processing capacity depends on your device, browser, file size, and page count.

Troubleshooting

I don't want a number on the cover page

Enable the skip-first-page option before applying page numbers.

I need numbering to start from a specific page

Set the starting number to match where you want counting to begin, then apply.

The number overlaps existing text

Choose a different corner position so the number doesn't overlap content already on the page.
